For many families affected by the war in Syria, the loss of a loved one is something they continue to live with long after the immediate crisis has passed.
Roots of Remembrance is a new Three Wishes initiative giving people the opportunity to plant a jasmine tree in memory of someone they have lost. Alongside grief support, the initiative will offer a space to remember, reflect and spend time in nature.
Jasmine holds a special place in Syrian culture and is closely associated with Damascus, known as the City of Jasmine. Each tree will be dedicated to a loved one, creating a living reminder of their life and memory.
“A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit.”
Grief is deeply personal, and everyone carries it differently. We hope each tree will offer a place to remember someone loved and allow their memory to live on as the tree grows for years to come.
